In 2019, the country’s total synthetic fiber output reached 58.27 million tonnes, with polyester accounting for 47.51 million tonnes, or 81.5% of the total. Alongside this massive production volume, the resulting waste and pollution problems have grown increasingly severe. Consequently, the development of regenerated synthetic fibers represents a crucial pathway for the sustainable development of China’s synthetic fiber industry—and, by extension, the broader textile industry.
